Eden sits nervously at the bar of the upscale\nstrip club nursing his club soda as a janitor mops the floor; it\u2019s 11AM and the\nshow will not start until late in the afternoon therefore Eden is presently the\nonly patron at popular club. The giant bartender\/bouncer returns and gestures\ntowards a door at the back of the club. Eden gets off his bar stool, picks up\nan 8\u201d x 10\u201d manila envelop and throws a five on the bar. He slowly makes his\nway past the empty dance stage towards the door indicated. Eden stops before\nthe door, hesitates for a few seconds, and then opens the door. He quickly\nclimbs the stairs to a landing above and faces a closed solitary door. Eden\nknocks lightly on the door and waits. \u201cCome in,\u201d yells a voice from within.\nEden nervously opens the door and enters. He is immediately greeted by another\nlarge man in a golf shirt and Dockers that immediately frisks Eden thoroughly from\nchest to toe. \u201cHe\u2019s clean Boss,\u201d states the big man as he leaves the room and\ncloses the door behind him.<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Eden\nturns and faces the man infamously known as the Teflon Boss, reputed head of\nall organized crime in Metropolis. The man seated behind the desk clearly does\nnot look like the sort of individual that would be a crime boss. He\u2019s a\nhandsome young man about thirty five years old and has wavy blonde hair and\ndeep blue eyes.<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cHave\na seat,\u201d says man behind the desk as he continues to look at the 8\u201d x 10\u201d color\npicture Eden used as his calling card. The man turns away from the window\noverlooking the club below and looks directly at Eden and asks, \u201cI\u2019m Evan\nFrost; and you are?<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cEden\u2026just\nEden,\u201d replies Eden nervously.<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cWell,\nEden\u2026just Eden; is this authentic?\u201d asks Evan Frost. <\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cYes\nsir,\u201d replies Eden.<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cPlease\u2026call\nme Evan,\u201d says the Teflon Boss as he slides the color photograph of an\nunconscious Man of Steel sprawled facedown across the desk to Eden.<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cI\nhave more,\u201d says Eden proudly as he pulls a photograph out of his envelop and\nslides it across the desk. It is another picture of Superman. He is\nunconscious, hanging upside down, his cape and arms dangling above the floor\nsuspended by his boots.<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Before\nEvan can react Eden produces two more photos and slides them across the desk.\nThe first picture is of Superman on his knees in an open orange gang box. Eden\nis standing behind Superman whose hands are behind his back. Superman\u2019s red\ncape is pulled taut wound around a large hook and knotted holding him erect on\nhis knees in the open steel box. Eden has his hand under Superman\u2019s chin\nholding his head up towards the camera. Superman hair is sweat soaked and\ndisheveled; he has a dazed vacant look and there is a cruel looking black ball\ngag inserted deep into his mouth and held in place by leather straps that\nbuckle together behind his neck. The second picture is an overhead view of\nSuperman compressed tightly into the same steel trunk before the lid is closed.\nHe is folded facedown on his knees in the box with his wrists handcuffed\ntightly together behind his back.<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Eden\u2019s\neyes meet Evan Frost\u2019s; Eden shrugs his shoulders and says, \u201cI was afraid\nSuperman would wake up and make a fuss so I cuffed his wrists and ankles and\nthen ball gagged him to keep him quiet. I could have just as easily failed in my attempt and be sitting in\ncounty lock up as here chatting with you. Any number of things could have gone\nwrong \u2013 power outage \u2013 computer glitch \u2013 complete system failure as all this\ntechnology\u2026I borrowed\u2026to subdue Superman is cutting edge and far from proven\nmuch less reliable; not to mention the fact that Superman is not stupid. Let me\nask you this. How did a college kid bring Superman down?\u201d asks\nEvan as he looks at the photographs again.<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cIt\u2019s\nnot a new concept &#8211; brains over brawn &#8211; mind over muscle. I used science to defeat\nSuperman \u2013 chemistry and physics. I could bore you with the Delphinium Theory\nof Reverse Effects if you had a few hours to listen to the scientific\nexplanation. Or we can cut right to it and make the deal. Either way I have\nwhat you want and you have what I want,\u201d remarks Eden as he shows the Boss a\nfinal picture.
