leaves the shaft and enters\nthe anteroom examining the thick concrete walls and low circling as he moves to\nthe end of the narrow room and stands before a large steel blast door. A sign\nnext to the blast door reads: \u201cCONTAINMENT ROOM.\u201d Superman bangs lightly on the\ndoor and shouts, \u201cDumont!\u201d No answer. Very odd indeed thinks Superman; this is\nthe time and place. Superman bangs again on the steel door and shouts, \u201cDumont,\nits Superman. I have an appointment here.\u201d No answer. Superman examines the\nsteel blast door for several seconds and again x-rays the interior finding it\ncompletely empty. \u201cNothing here, or for miles around this old hangar,\u201d thinks Superman.\n\u201cI guess this is somebody\u2019s idea of a cleaver prank\u201d. Superman turns towards\nthe shaft to the surface and hears the whirling sound of machinery engaging.\nThe steel door shifts slightly with a loud thud and begins to slowly and\nlaboriously rise exposing the interior of the Containment Room.<span>&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><\/span><\/span><\/span><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cFUCK!\u201d\nsays Bart tossing his cigarette as his Blackberry chirps signaling that Superman\nis the anteroom. Bart begins to sweat as he hears a bang on steel door; he\nwaits a moment and he hears another bang on the door. \u201cI must have been stoned\nwhen I agreed to do this crazy stunt. I just hope Kryptonite can render Superman\nhelpless like Dumont thinks it can!\u201d says Bart out loud nervously. The teenager\nshakily enters the command in the numeric wall pad to open the blast door and\nthen draws tightly back against the concrete wall of the Containment Room\nwithin the lead arch to remain out of Superman\u2019s view and close to the lead\nbox. The room is filled with the sound of decompressing air as the steel door\nshifts loudly and laboriously grinds upwards exposing the well-lit anteroom. As\nthe door extends to the open position Bart cautiously cranes his head out of\nthe lead arch to sneak a peek into the Anteroom and immediately sees the\nmagnificent red and blue clad figure of Superman, smiling widely, standing\nproudly in the light of the entryway with his muscular arm\u2019s folded across his well-defined\nchest looking directly at Bart. The room is filled with the sound of air\ncompressing as Superman continues to observe young Bart peeking out of the lead\narch.<span>&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n\n\n\n<span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">As Bart\u2019s eyes meet Superman\u2019s, Bart gasps, \u201cFuck!\u201d and draws instinctively\ndraws back against the wall as Superman, his crimson cape billowing behind him,\nsteps onto the floor of the Containment Room and moves to confront Bart who is\ncowering a several yards away within the arch next to a lead box. \u201cAre you\nDumont?\u201d asks Superman<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">Bart\nexhales loudly, collects himself, straightens and slowly moves out from under\nthe arch to face Superman; he forces a smile and says cynically, \u201cHeavens, no!\nI am merely my uncle\u2019s delivery man.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cThen\nwho are you, and why are we down here, young fella&#8217;?\u201d asks Superman.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">Bart\nextends his hand and approaches Superman and says cheerfully, \u201cHello Superman.\nMy name is Bart. Please pardon my excitement. It\u2019s a great honor to finally\nmeet you. You\u2019re so much larger in person than in photographs: large muscles,\nheight and all. Despite the strange circumstances Superman politely\nshakes Bart\u2019s hand and quickly asks, \u201cShouldn\u2019t you be in bed? That\u2019s the beauty of Kryptonite; it produces clean energy with no\nradioactivity whatsoever! He carefully pulls the cover off the lead box and sets\nit down gently on the concrete floor. Immediately the Containment Room is\nilluminated with an eerie green hue that begins to quickly intensify as Superman\napproaches the container and squats before the case to examine the contents of\nthe lead box.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cThe\nKryptonite stones are sitting on a long length of heavy chain. What is the\nchain for in the lead box Bart?<span>&nbsp; <\/span>The\nchain looks like it has a steel collar and shackles attached.\u201d observes Superman\nas he drops to one knee and peers down into the lead box to examine the element\natop the chains with his super senses.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cYou\u2019ll\nfind out,\u201d casually remarks the teenager, watching the cape shrouded shoulders\nand back of the intimidating super hero as Bart slowly pulls his Blackberry off\nhis belt clip. He nervously enters a series of numeric codes while Superman is\ndistracted by the lead box and its contents. Suddenly the room is filled with\nthe loud sound of decompressing air and the banging of metal meeting metal as\nthe upper and lower steel doors to the entry shaft to the substructure slam\nshut effectively sealing off the lower level.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">Superman\nlooks up in surprise from his examination of the element and cranes his head\ntowards the anteroom as the steel blast door begins a quick decent. He stands\nand faces Bart as the door thuds shut with a dull thud that echoes through the\nroom. As the noise of several blooms of decompressing air dissipates Superman asks,\n\u201cWhat\u2019s going on here, Bart?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">As\nthe glow form the lead box continues to wash over Superman, Bart ignores Superman\nand walks coolly over to the lead box and picks-up one of five small green\nglowing rocks. He then moves menacingly towards Superman wielding the\nKryptonite fragment saying excitedly, \u201cWe\u2019ll get to the purpose of the shackles\nlater Superman. The Kryptonite was brought here for your benefit Superman. This\nis a trap Superman, and you blundered right into it!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">Superman\nhas an amused look, \u201cA trap? What are you talking about? OK Bart the element is\na nice shade of green but after a cursory examination of this so-called\nKryptonite with my super senses I cannot see why your uncle feels the element\nis valuable as a source of energy. Why are we really here? Do you think that\nblast door will prevent me from leaving?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">Bart\nignores Superman\u2019s questions and continues to grin wickedly as he moves closer\nto the smiling caped, built man. \u201cKryptonite is your Achilles\u2019 Heel Superman;\nit is poison to you!\u201d informs Bart.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">Superman\ncontinues to watch Bart\u2019s antics for a moment in silence as Bart waves the\ngreen fragment menacingly at him and finally remarks in amusement, \u201cWhat kind\nof game are you and your uncle playing with me? Do you even have an uncle? Are\nyou off your medication?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cSorry\nSuperman, but this no game. I\u2019m very serious. I\u2019ve been sent here to capture\nand keep you imprisoned in this basement as you call it until my uncle arrives\nto collect you. You see Superman, like I said this is a valuable element\nregardless of what your pathetic examination concluded; it\u2019s not from around\nhere; it\u2019s from another planet.\u201d says Bart coldly as he moves even closer\nconfronting Superman face to face. As Bart stands face to face with Superman the\ngreen glow washes over Superman bathing his entire costume in a strange eerie\ngreen light.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">Superman\nnot knowing what to make of this strange situation asks again, \u201cBart, what is\ngoing on here? You drag me way out here to the middle of nowhere, under false\npretenses, lock me in this\u2026 vault, and then threaten me with a poison rock!\u201d\nresponds Superman, once again his muscular arms folded wearing an annoyed\nexpression.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cI\ndon\u2019t understand,\u201d stutters Bart in amazement. \u201cYou should be on your knees in\nagony begging for my mercy!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cI\nshould be on my knees in agony from what? I\u2019ve never experienced pain in my\nentire life and I certainly will never beg a kid like you for anything,\u201d\nexplains a perplexed Superman as the green hue that continues washing over him\nslowly begins to intensify in brightness unnoticed.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cWait\na minute! I get it now! You mentioned a trap. Is that what all this nonsense is\nabout Bart? You have to be kidding! Let me get this straight! Your uncle\u2019s\ncunning plan to trap me, Superman, goes something like this. 1. Lure an\nunsuspecting Superman to the basement of a remote hangar. 2. Trap Superman in\nthe basement of the hangar using his 16-year-old nephew as bait. 3. The 16-year-old\nnephew then uses a poison rock hidden in a lead box to defeat Superman. 4. The 16-year-old\nnephew puts the defeated Man of Steel in chains or something twisted like that,\nand merely waits for his dear uncle to arrive and collect Superman as a trophy.\nIs that about right? Is that what those chains and shackles are for in the lead\nbox? Are those chains meant for Superman?\u201d demands Superman followed by a burst\nof laughter.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">Bart\u2019s\nlook of confidence shatters and his expression turns sullen as he suddenly\nbegins to have serious doubts about the ability of Kryptonite to harm Superman;\nSuperman seems fine and appears totally unaffected by his uncle\u2019s alien\nelement, Kryptonite. Is it possible his uncle is all wrong about Kryptonite?\nMaybe his uncle snapped years ago and he concocted this whole Kryptonite story.\nHis uncle does seem to have an odd fixation with Superman; he has been stalking\nthe man for years. Kryptonite; heck for all I know this rock I\u2019m facing off Superman\nwith is an ordinary rock sprayed with fluorescent paint! \u201cWhat was I thinking,\u201d\nsays Bart thinking out loud<\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">Superman\ncontinues to address young Bart as the green hue washing over him continues to\nslowly intensify. \u201cYou were not thinking kid! That\u2019s my point. Your uncle\nobliviously has some twisted and unhealthy fascination with me, and you got\ncaught up in it. Your uncle needs some serious professional help or better yet,\na girlfriend. Heck he did not even have the courage to spring his own trap; he\nsent you!\u201d teases Superman.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">Bart\nis speechless and he lowers the rock and hangs his head as he listens to Superman\u2019s\nsermon thinking: How could his uncle have been so wrong? What will Superman do\nwith them now?<span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cHey\nkid keep your chin up, it\u2019s not your fault. Your uncle strung you along. He and\nmany others have tried to destroy me but I must admit this is most ridiculous\nplot yet,\u201d jokes Superman as he finds it hard to contain his laughter.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cThat\u2019s\nthe best your uncle could devise to destroy me. No atomic death ray? No trap me\nin a vault and suck the air out of it, or zap me with a merciless bombardment\nof bolts of electricity? Not even a voodoo doll or a black magic spell? Even a\nfire cracker is better than a poison rock kid,\u201d mocks Superman.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><\/span><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\nBart is completely devastated and he tosses the worthless fragment of\nKryptonite down to the floor at Superman\u2019s feet and stands there with his head\nhung. \u201cOkay kid, I\u2019m sorry. Please don\u2019t take it so hard. It\u2019s not your fault.\nLike I told you, they have all failed to defeat me but at least they put a\nlittle thought into the plan,\u201d chuckles Superman unable to resist ridiculing\nBart further. \u201cI\u2019m sorry again,\u201d apologizes Superman quickly as he puts a\ncomforting arm on Bart\u2019s shoulder. \u201cI don\u2019t mean to make fun of you but do you\nknow why they have all failed to defeat me? I\u2019ll tell you why kid. They all\nfail because they all forget that I\u2019m Superman, AKA the Great Titan, or my\npersonal favorite the Man of Steel,\u201d boasts Superman.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cLook\nat this gun kid,\u201d brags Superman as he flexes one of his impressive biceps for\nthe teenager to drive home his point. Bart is speechless and his expression is\ngrim and hateful as he is forced to admire Superman\u2019s well developed arm\nmuscles as he flexes them.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cLook\nkid, a mere rock and a fantasy dreamed up by a delusional uncle and executed by\nhis ill-advised nephew cannot harm me, Superman! Read the papers kid; I\u2019m\ninvincible! I\u2019m invulnerable! I AM SUPERMAN!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">With\nhis arm tenderly around Bart\u2019s shoulder Superman gently escorts Bart to the\nlead arch.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cNow\nBart, please, reconsider this crazy scheme, and open the blast door or I will\nrip it off its tracks and toss it across the room like a Frisbee. After that\nI\u2019ll smoke every door that leads to the surface above in my way with my heat\nvision. It will be far less expensive for your uncle if you open the doors,\nBart. Either way, we\u2019re leaving. NOW,\u201d explains Superman with an annoyed look.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">Without\nhesitation, Bart sullenly and shakily enters the code and the room is filled\nwith the sound of decompressing air and the sound of whirling machinery as the\nblast shifts slightly and laboriously rises to the top of its tracks and stops\nwith a bang that echoes through the chamber. Seconds later more decompressing\nair as the upper and lower shaft doors depressurize and open clearing the way\nto the stairway to the hangar floor high above them.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cThe\ndoors are all open Superman,\u201d informs Bart sourly.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span><span><span lang=\"EN-CA\" style=\"background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; color: black;\">\u201cThank-you\nBart; you made the right decision.
